Greenhouse Community Mural
During the Fall of 2022, multiple classes such as Form & Space, Creative Writing, and Healing Through Art & Activism worked through an expressive arts process, building a sense of belonging with their community while working to contribute their voice and vision to a mural for the Greenhouse.
Through activities such as mindfulness meditations, storytelling, expressive writing, and art making, participants identified their perspective on the idea of being deeply rooted or reaching toward the light. Each person’s expressions were distilled into a single word that best represented their experience, which was then created as a mosaic deconstructed out of the paper from their writing and painting.
In addition to the artwork being part of a community mural, students from the Intro to the Arts class choreographed a dance in response to their expressive arts experiences with the Greenhouse. The artwork from the mural project was projected onto them during their dance as part of the Winter Showcase.
