Andrea Skyberg

Artist/Author/Curator/Educator

I am an artist and educator with a diverse, multidisciplinary background, having taught students from Pre-K to college, worked as a museum educator, and spent years as an artist-in-residence in community settings. Deeply invested in arts education, I believe it is crucial for personal and societal healing, addressing systemic injustice, and reclaiming our inherent creative power. My teaching philosophy centers on creating a supportive, inclusive space where students can take risks, make mistakes, and engage in the transformative process of learning. I draw from cultural and social justice frameworks, emphasizing the importance of identity, power dynamics, and self-awareness in shaping both individual and collective understanding. Through a combination of clear learning outcomes, active engagement, and constructive feedback, I encourage students to develop critical thinking, self-reliance, and a lifelong practice of reflection. Ultimately, my goal is to help students recognize creativity as an innate strength, equipping them to navigate the world, process emotions, and communicate meaningfully through art.
