POST-SECONDARY PROJECTS & INFO

Alverno at Milwaukee Zine Fest

Alverno was selected to table at Milwaukee Zine Fest. Over the course of the spring semester, five different classes across departments such as history, creative writing, education, art, and art education. Each zinester created their zine from different places of intent and some shared their zines at MKE Zine Fest. We had a great time being part of the zinester community and seeing the amazing work that’s being done in our city. Big thanks to Morgan Molson, Music Therapy student at Alverno who ran the table that day. We’re in the process of creating a digital archive to share the zines through our college library, and we’re also continuing to make zines in classes with the hopes to share them at future zine festivals.

ADULT LEARNING AND DEGREE COMPLETION

ADAPTIVE ARTS EDUCATOR CERTIFICATE WITH LICENSURE (859)

This rigorous and focused post-baccalaureate certificate program is designed for visual art educators with a Wisconsin 550 license currently serving in schools. The earner will gain a deep foundation in adaptive education, learner needs and assessment, classroom environment, and collaborative communication using professional and ethical practices.

Over 15% of students in our schools are diagnosed and serviced for exceptional needs and this number is growing steadily. The vast majority of these students are taught in mainstreamed classrooms, especially for art and music. Art teachers need to be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to service students with different learning needs effectively, creatively, and compassionately throughout the K-12 community.
