Director of Art Education & Art Therapy

It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of a community where women-centered education, inclusivity, and lifelong learning are at the forefront of what we do.

I love being part of Alverno College, where students thrive in an environment that values growth and individuality. As an abilities-based institution, we emphasize skills like social interaction, aesthetic engagement, and effective citizenship, while fostering self awareness. By removing letter grades, students focus on refining their skills and reflecting on their learning through self assessment, rather than competing against others. Alverno prepares women for personal and professional success, creating a space where they can find their voice and contribute meaningfully to the world around them.

License to Masters Art Education & Adaptive Arts
ADULT LEARNING AND DEGREE COMPLETION

I’m proud to have played a role in creating the Art Education License to Master’s program, which is designed to meet the growing need for qualified, passionate teachers. This program offers a pathway that allows students to earn their teaching certificates in art education and adaptive arts while working toward a Master of Arts in education.

The Master of Arts program in art education/adaptive arts (PreK-12) is designed to answer a growing need for qualified, dedicated, experienced professional teachers in the classrooms of our communities. The unique timeframe allows the freedom and flexibility to become licensed teacher, with certificates in art education (1550) and adaptive arts (1859) and continue on to earn a Master of Arts degree in education, all within two years. Admission to this pathway requires prior completion of an undergraduate degree in Art; candidates who have completed an undergraduate degree with incomplete Art coursework will be required to complete remaining requirements.

PROJECTS & INFO

Alverno at Milwaukee Zine Fest

Alverno College is actively participating in the Milwaukee Zine Fest each year, with a growing presence across multiple departments. In the past years, students from different departments have created zines that reflect their unique perspectives and creative practices. These students share their work at the festival, continuing to build a connection with the local zinester community and showcasing the vibrant creativity happening at Alverno.

Deeply Rooted & Reaching for the Light Greenhouse Mural Project

Students from various classes across Alverno’s campus engaged in an expressive arts process to build community and contribute to a mural for the Greenhouse. Through activities like mindfulness meditation, storytelling, expressive writing, and art making, participants explored the themes of being deeply rooted or reaching toward the light. Each individual distilled their experience into a word, which was then transformed into a mosaic and was part of the mural created for the Alverno Greenhouse.
