Revolting — Milwaukee, Summer 2025
I was honored to have my work included in Revolting, a multidisciplinary exhibition curated by Evelyn Winter at 5th Street Gallery in Milwaukee in summer 2025. Bringing together 17 Milwaukee-based artists, the exhibition explored resistance, identity, and collective strength through visual art, music, and wearable sculpture.
The exhibition addressed themes including cultural survival, the labor of care, queer expression, racism, and the power of challenging dominant narratives. These ideas resonated with my own artistic practice, which explores creation and care as powerful forces that are often overlooked.
Revolting extended beyond the gallery through Evelyn’s 11-track album of the same name, culminating in a closing celebration featuring a runway performance of original wearable sculptures inspired by the music. The sculptures transformed the album’s themes into an embodied, multidisciplinary experience.
As both a participating artist and Evelyn’s mom, it was especially meaningful to be part of an exhibition shaped by her work as a musician, visual artist, and curator. Having spent my own life in the arts, I loved seeing her carve out her own creative path while our worlds intersected in this unexpected way—as mother and daughter, but also as fellow artists. I’m incredibly proud of the vision she is building and the work she is bringing into the world.
